Stipling MacRoben's Reply, N6086/LS:F of No 15 Squadron

(Rus)  Having lost three sons in RAF service, Lady Mac Robert furnished the cost of a Stirling to be named in their honour as MacRobert's Reply. Wg Cdr Pat Ogilvie DSO, No 15 Squadron's CO, is seen here presenting a 'good luck' letter to the crew, captained at this time by Fg Off Peter Boggis, who would normally fly this aircraft. MacRoben's Reply, N6086/LS:F, seen in the background, flew twelve sorties and after major maintenance was used by No 1651 Heavy Conversion Unit (HCU) at Waterbeach. It crashed in Oakington village on 14 March 1943 after losing a wing. (IWM CH3945)
